Normandy landing beaches: history, heroism, and remembrance

Normandy landing beaches: history, heroism, and remembrance

Relive one of World War II’s most decisive moments on a full-day tour through the Normandy countryside. Travel back to June 1944, when the Allied invasion began under General Eisenhower, and explore the Landing Beaches that marked the beginning of the liberation of France.

Visit the iconic Pointe du Hoc and Omaha Beach, where American forces made their historic landings. After a quick lunch (meal not included), pay your respects at the American Cemetery, immortalized in the opening scenes of Saving Private Ryan. Continue your journey through the villages of Saint-Laurent, Colleville-sur-Mer, and Sainte- Honorine, where you’ll witness the remnants of the war.

Explore the remains of bunkers and the artificial harbors in Port-en-Bessin, Longues-sur-Mer, and Arromanches, key sites in the battle for Normandy. If time permits, enjoy a visit to a typical Normandy town, where you can sample authentic Camembert cheese and sip on local apple cider or Calvados brandy.
