Situated 25 miles east of Bordeaux, at the heart of the Libournais region, the millennial village of Saint-Emilion attracts guests for its timeless monuments and vineyards known from around the world. The medieval village of St Emilion, and its surrounding countryside and vineyards are protected under the UNESCO World Heritage scheme.
You will not believe your eyes when you will see vineyards such as Château Angelus, Château Cheval Blanc, Château Pavie or Château Beauséjour Duffau Lagarosse, producing some of the most exclusive wines in the world. Alternatively Château Larmande and Château Tour Saint Christophe, provide a just as exclusive experience while more personal.
The Medoc region is so large that hundreds of wineries are dotted around its peninsula. The region reaches 70 miles north of Bordeaux, then bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the west and the Gironde Estuary to the east. Whilst you are there you will be able to visit the classified first growths of 1855, crus Bourgeois. On your wine tour, explore the most famous wineries of Medoc dotting the Route des Chateaux or visit more family-oriented wineries.
Whilst touring along the Route des Chateaux, your chauffeur will answer all the questions you whave and will share a few secrets about the history of wine making in Médoc. Your tailor-made schedule will take you to the likes of Château Lafon-Rochet, Château Lynch Bages in Saint-Estephe and Pauillac, but also Château Beychevelle and Gruaud-Larose in Saint-Julien, or further down south Château Palmer and Château Marquis D’Alesme in Margaux.
If you happen to have enough time for lunch, you should not miss Le Saint-Julien. This restaurant is famous for its local cuisine and is situation in the village of Saint-Julien-Beychevelle, right in the middle of the vineyards.
Cognac is a city in the Charente, famous for its most elegant beverage. The city is known around the world for its Cognac and its historical heritage. Designated as the City of Arts and History, it holds in its heart some of the most beautiful castles, churches and museums. It hosts wonderful gardens dotted along the river Charente that you can enjoy whilst strolling the river banks.
Your chauffeur will be fully conversant of the region of Cognac and can show you some of the most prestigious names in the Cognac industry during your Wine Tour. Examples include, being able to have a private visit and tasting at Maison de Cognacs Forgeron, in Segonzac, not far from Cognac. This is a family owned distillery, where you will be hosted by the owners themselves creating an amazing shared experience with your family and friends. In the center of Cognac, you will discover la Maison des Cognacs CAMUS, one of the two oldest distilleries in the city. You will be welcomed by the VIP Ambassador and given the exquisite opportunity to participate in the Master Blender workshop, organized only for private visits. In this workshop, you will learn the fine art of making Cognac and will take home your very own blended bottle of Cognac.
Cognac Hennessy or Cognacs Remy Martin will of course be on the program too. When you are ready for lunch, you should try La Brasserie de la Distillery at the heart of Les Chais Monnet in the old quarter of Cognac.
The terroirs, to the south of Bordeaux are renowned for their wine production. Their soils are classed as gravel and produce mostly red wines for Pessac-Leognan and sweet white wines for Sauternes.
Going for a wine tour through those terroirs, you will enjoy private visits and tastings for instance at Château Pape Clément, Château Fieuzal or Château Haut-Bailly in Pessac-Leognan. If you prefer an amazing family owned vineyard you should try Fr Château Raymond Lafon, an amazing family owned or the illustrious Château D’Yquem. You may also want to stop for lunch at La Table du Lavoir, the brasserie of the famous Hotel & SPA Les Sources de Caudalie, at the heart of the vineyards.
